A man’s Fertility depends on the quality and quantity of the sperms. If there is a less sperm ejaculation during the coitus or low sperm quality then the man cannot cause to a pregnancy. If there is any problem with the reproductive system then the man will be diagnosed with some special procedures.
What causes male infertility?
Male infertility is generally caused by the problem in sperm production or sperm transport. With medical testing, the physician may be able to trace out the cause of the problem. Infections due to diabetes, childhood mumps can cause Prostatitis, sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, AIDS, Chlamydia, TB will reduce the rate of fertility where they should be appropriately treated with antibiotics to control the infections.
It has been found that about two-thirds of infertile men have issues with testes where the sperms are produced. They will have either low amount of sperms or poor quality sperms which do not work properly.
Sperm transport problems are found especially in men who had a vasectomy, but now wish to get issues. Obstructions in the tubes that lead sperm away from the testes to the penis can cause lack of sperm in the ejaculated semen.
The inability of the semen to enter vagina for fertilization, low levels of the hormone (LH, FSH) produced in the pituitary gland, sperm antibodies. In most of the cases sperm antibodies do not affect the pregnancy chance, but in some cases it reduces fertility.
Undescended testis in babies where the testes are inside the abdomen should be corrected immediately otherwise, it will result in male subfertility in later life. Hypospadias is a condition where the urethral meatus is on the underside of the penis, in such case IUI can be done successfully. Congenital absence of vas deferens results to Azoospermia, ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection), PETA (Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration) and TESA (testicular sperm aspiration) are performed to induce pregnancy. Varicocele, in which the veins are dilated, can be corrected by varicocelectomy.
